Ben Harper @ Deer Lake Park

Sunday Afternoon Lucas and I went to the Ben Harper Concert. The concert was of course amazing. Ben Harper always puts on an amazing show. He started out his show with some of his hits off of his last three albums, he then took a short break before coming out for his first encore to sit and play some of his slower classics including 'walk away' (one of my very favourite songs which I will admit brought me to tears). Vancouver's own 'The Be Good Tanya's' came out and acompanied Ben with a couple songs which was really neat. After another short break Ben came out again and played some of his bigger hits such as 'Burn One Down' and 'Steal My Kisses'. Overall the concert was amazing. If there was one disappointment it would be that Ben did not play his classic cover of 'Sexual Healing'.

I should also mention Bedouin Soundclash which also put on a great starting show. I wondered how they would be live and they were not a disappointment that is for sure.

I remain a big fan and will be at the next show as well.

1st Camping Trip

Lucas and I went on our first camping trip of the year last weekend. Friday night we headed up to GoldenEars park in the pouring rain. In true Vancouverite fashion the rain couldn't stop us. There was some trouble setting up the tent in the rain but it was soon up and the rest of the time went smoothly. It was a great time. I can't wait for this weekend, Camping trip #2.

Lucas setting up the tarp in the rain

I liked this pic because you can see how it was raining, however the tiki torch made it feel as though it was warm.

Lucas and me finally nice and warm and dry in the tent.

It wasn't raining the next morning, Yay!

Have to have our morning tea.

Happy 19th Birthday Kelsey!!

Well it has finally happened, my little sister turned 19 this week. In celebration, Tara and I took her to none other than the Mirage in Guilford for her very first clubbing experience. Although she was nervous at first, by the end of the night she was dancing up a storm and partying like she's been doing it for years. Happy Birthday Kelsey!! Here's to more nights of us tearing this city apart!!! :)

Ride of Silence

On May 17 a National Ride of Silence took place. People around North America and the world rode in memory of those injured or killed on the road. As many of you may remember this is how my friend Krisjan was killed in 2003, on his bike coming home from running errands. It was devastating news and I know I speak for all his friends when I say he's missed greatly and remembered oh so fondly with great amounts of laughter and good times. Wednesday night was a great opportunity to ride in rememberance of him. I never got to attend the funeral as it was in Winnipeg however this was a perfect oppotunity to finally pay my respects and do something fun in rememberance of a good friend.

Deer Lake

Im playing a little catch up with this entry. Last Monday Lucas and I spent our day on our bikes. We rode to Deer Lake Park and laid in the sun all day. It was great!

Mother's Day!

For Mother's Day Mum decided that she wanted to do some gardening on our deck. We started the day out with a nice breakfast on the beach with a little shopping at our favourite shop in White Rock. After that we headed to Potters where mum picked out all the flowers she wanted to have on our deck this year. Unfortunately it's difficult to find a lot because our deck is in constant shade which is good for the temperature of our house in the summer but not so good for flowers. When we got home we spent the rest of our day planting flowers and listening to the Gypsy Kings. Overall is was a lovely day. Thank you Mum for everything you do for me, I would not be who I am today if it were not for you. You are the very best!
