Flowers for Peter

Mum, Lucas and I attended the funeral of a dear friend today. Peter Dacher was the husband of Marilyn, one of Mum's closest friends. Mum and Marilyn met when Mum had just moved here from Scotland. Around 2 years ago (I'm not certain on the date), Peter was diagnosed with Cancer. He learned that it would be terminal about 18 months ago. The doctors gave him far less than 18 months but he proved them all wrong. Peter was best known for his work in the German and Jewish communities in Vancouver. He owned a printing business where he made many friends in the city. Above all Peter is remembered for his undying sense of humour. Nearly everyone who spoke at Peter's funeral today spoke of his humour. He made everyone laugh right up until his last days. After the funeral, Mum and I decided to go to Van Dusen Gardens. It was a nice place to relax and reflect on our day. We remembered Peter and had a good laugh in his memory. This tree made us think of Peter (it's name is the German word for tree). I think of this now as Peter's tree. I hope you enjoy these photos.

In loving memory of Paul Peter Dacher

Murray Lake Camping

Lucas, Neil, Jenn and I hit the road on a camping adventure this past weekend. We had no definite destination, just some conditions - be out in the middle of nowhere, in lots on trees with a body of water. We found the perfect place at Murray Lake, just 30 or so minutes past the toll booths along the Coquihala Highway. It was perfect!

It was a bit of a tight fit for four people and all of our gear in my Mum's little hatch-back but we made it work.

Mum's car became a 4x4 for the day along the logging road to Murray Lake. Thanks again for the wheels Mum. She came back all in one piece, I promise :)

Good times beside the campfire and lake

There's nothing better than roasting a smokie on the fire and listening to the Beatles...in Baroque?! Yup!

There were lots of beautiful butterflies around our campsite. One decided to take a rest on my stomach. It was pretty neat.

More good times around the fire!

Jenn French-braided my hair for me. The first time from what I can remember!

My Irn-Bru commercial shots and Lucas showing the devil in him.

All four of us by the lake!

9th Annual Burnaby Blues & Roots Festival

Despite the ominous rain clouds, the weather was awesome! Perfect for a festival - not too hot, not too cold.

Jenn & Neil came with us! :)

More Fun!

Another year doesn't disappoint!
