Ink'd

After over 5 years of contemplation I've finally gotten my second tattoo! And the big news...it's very visible! It was a huge decision to make but I'm really happy that I finally went ahead and did it. What is the meaning, you ask? Well it's a tribute to my Mother. My Mum is the strongest woman I know. She has been a single mother since I was the very young age of 2 years. Ever since I was two my Mum has taught me to be a strong independent kick-ass woman just like her. Everyday I strive to be just a little bit like her. This tattoo is my way to carry her with me wherever I go and remind me of the values she has instilled in me. The orange flower symbolises her always looking over my shoulder and protecting me and the yellow flower symbolises me. It's not quite finished yet; I still have to go in for touch-ups and white highlights but I couldn't wait to share it. (And yes after the first 2 hours it really started to hurt) :)

ps. to those finding out about this through the blog, sorry I didn't tell you before hand!!

T-Bone Christmas

Lucas and I recently noticed that some of our gifts for each other had an underlining connection. It turns out that the music on three of our favourite gifts - Across the Universe Soundtrack, O Brother Where Art Thou DVD & Robert Plant and Alison Kruass CD - was all somehow tied to T-Bone Burnett. This prompted me to do a little research on T-Bone and find out what else he's done and where he comes from and what other cool things he has had his part in. What I found is super impressive.

T-Bone Burnett was a musician himself during the 70s and early 80s. In the late 80s until now he's been making a name for himself as a music producer and film scorer. He's had his hand in such famous musical films as 'Walk the Line' and has produced songs for films such as 'Cold Mountain' and 'All the King's Men'. His work has been recognised by various award giving academies including being nominated for the Anthony Asquith Award for Achievement in Film Music by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

The music in all the gifts Lucas and I gave to each other this Christmas is amazing and it all has something to do with this man. I can say for certain that I'll be looking for his name in the future. If any of you are interested I highly suggest checking out some of T-Bone's music and for sure check out the Across the Universe Soundtrack, O Brother Where Art Thou film, and the new Robert Plant and Alison Krauss collaboration.

Happy 2008!

After many many quiet nights in on New Years we decided that this year was the year to go out on the town and bring the New Year in, in style. Harbour Centre was holding a masquerade and I could think of nothing more fitting to do on New Years then be at the venue with the best view in the city all dressed up with sexy masks and surrounded by good friends. It was an amazing night and Lucas and I danced until we had nothing left in us. It was a great choice for the first New Years out on the town!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
