United Hudson Bay Company

This picture was on the cover of the weekend Globe and Mail. I liked it so much I had to find it to post it on here. The deal has been given the full go ahead and Canada's oldest company will be completely American owned.

Happy Valentines Day!

Just wanted to write a quite entry to say Happy Valentines Day to everyone. Also, just a reminder to those of us who are single today, Valentines Day is not only for those attatched people out there. Spending today sad would be a complete waste of a day! If it helps, try to keep in mind that that is a manufactured feeling. A feeling that the consumer world puts out there, getting all that candy and heart shaped stuff is not what is important today. It is being around those you love and who love you even if that means your girlfriends or your boys. Have fun today and celebrate love in general because whether you have it today or not it is something to be celebrated. Enjoy!

Capote

Last night a friend and I went to see 'Capote' directed by Bennett Miller and starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as Truman Capote. Both these men and their film have been nominated for an Oscar. Before I saw this film I was certain that either 'Crash' or 'Brokeback Mountain' would take the statue home. I am no longer so certain.

Capote was an absolutely amazing film. It has been a really long time since I have been glued to my seat during as well as thoughout the entire credits of a film. I was that amazed by this film. I dont even have words that can adequately describe the acting or direction in this film. I recommend this film to everyone! It's not playing in many theatres anymore so you may have to wait until its out on video but please do yourself a favour and see this movie!! It is something else.

Here is the actual Truman Capote before he died in 1984 of Alcoholism.

48th Annual Grammy Awards

OK soo normally I'm more an Oscar girl myself but I was really glad that I tuned into the Grammys last night. I was really impressed! And very happy for all the winners. I was especially happy to see Kelly Clarkson take home two Grammys, one for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album. I was really impressed with her album when I heard it earlier this year. Previously I was not a fan of Clarkson but the album 'Breakaway' won me over. As it has many of my friends. Other big Winners included, U2 and John Legend. I would have to say though that my very favourite moment was when Sir Paul McCartney joined Jay-Z and Linkin Park on stage to sing 'Yesterday'. (which I cant find a photo for...oh well)

Kelly Clarkson winning one of her 2 Awards of the night

John Legend winning best new artisit.

U2 won quite a few awards including best Album of the Year
and best song.

Recall Emerson!

I am very happy to say that the riding of Vancouver-Kingsway is trying to recall Emerson. If only I could sign the petition!! To do the right thing Emerson needs to resign and hold a by-election running as a Tory. Goodluck Kingsway!!! If you need any help you know who to call!

Speechless

I have been thinking for the last 48 hours about what exactly to say regarding David Emerson crossing the floor yesterday. My conclusion is that I really have no idea what so ever what to say. I am so shocked, floored actually. Emerson? Of all people David Emerson crossed the floor?! He isn't even in my riding and I am outraged. This last election was a very heated one, people were confused to say the least. I know for a fact that people in his Vancouver riding were convinced to vote for him instead of the NDP in order to save a conservative getting in. I can't even begin to know what the constituents in his riding are feeling right now towards him. I know that I have seen people on the news say that they are shocked and if they had known would never have voted for him. This is really just the surface. He was chosen to represent liberal policies and values in Ottawa for this Vancouver riding not conservative policies and values. Quite frankly Emerson I am shocked and speechless. (I am also glad that I broke my leg and was not able to work on your campaign as one of my friends suggested I do. Blessing in disguise.)
