Grindhouse

Last night Lucas and I went to see the new Rodriguez and Tarantino joint project 'Grindhouse'. For those who do not know, 'Grindhouse' is actually two films, one directed by Rodriguez and one directed by Tarantino. It is meant to bring the audience back to the seedy theatres and horror films of the 1970s. It is hard to find the words to describe the experience of seeing 'Grindhouse'. This is what it truly is, an experience. It is 3 hours long, full of faux previews, advertisements, missing reels, and shotty quality frames. Going into the film, I was unsure what I would think of it and the truth is I loved them. I am so glad that I went to see this in the theatres. There were some very disturbing moments. However, overall the films were exceptionally entertaining. I also expected the films to be completely degrading to women and while there were many gratuitous body shots of women, the women in the films were exceptionally strong. They completely took care of themselves, took initiative, and, well, seriously kicked ass! I came out of the theatre a little scared of zombies but a lot empowered. I was so impressed by this! I recommend this movie to some but not to all, this film is not for weak stomachs. But if you are thinking of seeing this movie and can't decide let this review be the deciding factor, go see it, it's worth the money.

My Last Last Day of Classes

Today marks the end of an era.....hmmm no too formal. Today is the day it all ends.....hmmm no too fatalistic. Today marks the end of my university undergrad classes....that'll do. I went to class today for the last time in my undergraduate degree. I'm not sure I know how I feel about this yet. It is surreal more than anything else. I am in a neutral place between the sweeping comfort of school and the harsh reality of, well, reality. I have worked so hard over the last five years for this one day and now that I am here I have no idea what to do with myself. And today is not even half of what June 7 will be for me, this is the day that the degree is placed in my hands. Maybe this is why I'm in limbo, perhaps when I receive my degree it will all become real. All I know thus far is that I deserve today and I deserve to make today whatever I feel is right. And what is right for today?
MASSIVE CELEBRATIONS!! :)

Moving/Birthday Weekend

Wow, what a weekend! I am still coming down from all the stress and events. We moved to Vancouver on Saturday and then Sunday was my 23rd Birthday. The move went really well thanks to all the great help we had. Unpacking is insane because this place is a little smaller than our last apartment. But slowly everything is finding its place. I had a very nice Birthday despite the move. Lucas' family came over for take-out which was really fun. It was nice to have such a quiet night after the events of Saturday. I really want to say Thank you to everyone who helped with the move and who made my Birthday as wonderful as it was. Thank you!!!

Moving Day!

Our new wonderful view!

My Birthday celebrations...just the beginning of them :)
